Students visit

Fifty-seven students from Stafford Public School, situated in the Mango belt of Lucknow, visited the Institute on December 27, 2016. Dr. Shailendra Rajan, Director of the Institute interacted with the students and generated awareness amongst them on the issues of conservation of mango diversity, unique plant varieties, ecological disturbances and environment pollution in the wake of rampant spraying of pesticides and insecticides. The teachers and students of the school displayed significantly keen interest in Institute’s activities. The school management assured Dr. Rajan that they would be planting rare varieties of mango and guava in their premise in the times to come. Students were exceedingly interested that their family members ought to be a part of the custodian farmers national database as many of them conserve more than 10 varieties in their orchards.
